The role of this group was to develop joint statements of demand for new/improved energy solutions and policy interventions to reduce energy costs, support EU energy-related targets and improve the future sustainability of energy support systems in the healthcare sector.
Energy was also a topic that attracted strong interest from both within and beyond the consortium and was the main subject for the Leader-Led procurement projects in Nottingham (UK) and Poland as well as an important element of the low carbon catering project at Rotherham (UK).
A number of joint actions were initiated including the development of the ‘Energy4Health Strategic Policy Roadmap’ (one of six projects sponsored by DG Growth to promote the concept of the EU Demand-Side Action Plan), learning missions on leading-edge sustainable energy opportunities such as hydrogen fuel cell CHP systems and the development of a ‘Joint Statement of Demand on Future Energy Solutions for Healthcare’.
