EcoQUIP Plus Statements of Demand

Mar 8, 2021

At the heart of the EcoQUIP Plus project are the six leader-led innovation procurement projects, each of which address a particular healthcare challenge. We are now reaching an important milestone. Over the next eight weeks we will publish six Statements of Demand and reach out across our peer networks to find other healthcare organisations, practitioners and hospitals with the same, or similar, need and invite them into a period of collaboration to refine the statement of demand in advance of consultation with the supply-chain.

The first two Statement of Demand published are:

Personalised Surgical Process for Joint Replacements
Led by Corporació Sanitària Parc Taulí (CSPT), Spain

Smart Emergency Call and Response Solution for Hospitals
Led by Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Klinikos (VULSK).

Check back in the coming weeks as we publish more Statements of Demand for the remaining four projects on our Procurement Projects page, or stay up to date with all that is happening and sign up for our Newsletter.

5th EcoQUIP+ Webinar - Pro-innovation tendering

Nov 12, 2020

The fifth webinar in the series was entitled Pro-innovation Procurement and looked at how the tendering process can hinder innovation or instead be designed to enable innovative solutions to compete equally with established goods and services, and why this is essential in innovation procurement.  The webinar covered the principles and practices of pro-innovation procurement and used case examples of pro-innovation tendering to illustrate the process.

While new technologies can create new opportunities, the traditional procurement process often reflects the old solutions and historical situations.  A pro-innovation tendering strategy, however, is one designed to allow suppliers’ scope to propose innovative solutions and provides an opportunity for them to distinguish their products and services on factors other than price alone.

The webinar was delivered by Gaynor Whyles, director at JERA Consulting, EcoQUIP+ consortium member and expert practitioner.

4th EcoQUIP+ Webinar - Market Engagement in Innovation Procurement

Oct 7, 2020

The fourth webinar in the series was entitled ‘Market Engagement in Innovation Procurement’.  With effective engagement being a cornerstone of innovation, this webinar looked at the tools and practices involved.  Market engagement involves communicating an accurate and credible demand early in the process in a way that is convincing to suppliers.  It not only provides advance notice to suppliers of a customer’s need, it also serves to break down barriers between customers and suppliers and helps to determine the procurement strategy that is most likely to deliver the desired outcomes.

The webinar was delivered by Gaynor Whyles, director at JERA Consulting, EcoQUIP+ consortium member and expert practitioner, with a practical case study presented by Denis Premec from Regional Agency North in Croatia.  The case example presented was related to the transformation of a kindergarten in Croatia and, while not related to the healthcare sector, demonstrates the transferable nature of the innovation procurement process across sectors and organisations.  The case study focused on the different stages of market engagement and highlighted both the challenges and the benefits of the process.  It provides a unique insight into the organisation’s experience of undertaking the process and the significant impacts that were achieved.  This project has now been awarded the Procura+ Award for Innovation Procurement of the Year 2020!

3rd EcoQUIP+ Webinar - Stakeholder Engagement in Innovation Procurement

Sep 8, 2020

The third webinar in the series was entitled ‘Stakeholder Engagement in Innovation Procurement’ and focussed on the preparation stage of the innovation procurement process.  Stakeholder engagement is a key success factor in the process and we demonstrated how engaging stakeholders and end users supports the identification of a credible, outcome-based requirement.  The webinar was delivered by Gaynor Whyles, director at JERA Consulting, EcoQUIP+ consortium member and expert practitioner, with practical case studies presented by EcoQUIP+ colleagues from Poland and Italy.

The case examples presented in this webinar demonstrate that innovation procurement can be used to support the development of both goods and services and highlight the importance of stakeholder engagement in creating a firm foundation for the innovation procurement by identifying the risks, ensuring the requirements are accurately defined and understood, supporting the acceptance of new models and technologies and building trust.
